Blocking and Finishing

It is optional but recommended to block your finished piece. Fill a bowl with water and add some liquid starch if you prefer the doily to be lightly stiffened. Soak the doily and gently press out any excess liquid, being careful not to pull or twist on the stitches. Lay it flat on a blocking mat and pin the doily working from the center out to the edges. Allow the doily to dry completely before removing the pins.

  3. Do you recommend to block between each part? I just finished up my part 1 and wondering if it would be easier to block it first and then go onto round 2 or just do it all at the end?

    1. Not the creator of the pattern, but I think its a good idea to. I blocked my part 1 too and it's much easier to work with

    2. Good to know that it's easier to work with! I thought it might be, but didn't want to mess it up. :) Thank you for your advice!

  6. I just started this earlier this week. I'm looking forward to continuing this piece as it is a challenge for me to keep the correct gauge. I'm not used to working with crochet thread or in such a small space! I had been in love with this pattern even before part 5 came out. Do you think there will be a part 6 or is this the finished doily?

  7. I am SO LOVING this doily!! I saw it for the first time on July 27 when Yarnspirations shared it on their FB page. I'm just starting part 4. When it comes to doilies, the more complicated, the better. This is a dream pattern!

  8. OMG! when I saw parts 1, 2, and 3, I immediately felt in love with this pattern, and now with part 4 and 5 I feel butterflies in my stomach. Thank you Julia

  10. I just started this doily and I'm almost ready to start row 35. I usually skip patterns that have a lot of single crochets since I have a tight hand and I like to use size 20 thread which wants to twist back on itself. My vision also isn't great, but I will finish this! I cant wait to see part 6!!!! Why stop there???!!!!! Love this design and can't thank you enough for offering this extreme beauty.
    Best wishes,
    Beth

  11. Oh! One more thing! This pattern has ruined me for all times when it comes to photo tutorials. This is the absolutely best photo tutorial that I have ever seen. My husband saw me using the tutorial and was blown away since the work on the tutorial is massively impressive.....just like the design itself. I fully intend to do this again with size 10 thread.

  12. Hi! i am starting round 70 and i am having some issues. it says to repeat 31 times, but that does not get me completely around the doily. i have followed everything else correctly (i think?). Am i supposed to stop the round short? thanks
