Blocking and Finishing

It is optional but recommended to block your finished piece. Fill a bowl with water and add some liquid starch if you prefer the doily to be lightly stiffened. Soak the doily and gently press out any excess liquid, being careful not to pull or twist on the stitches. Lay it flat on a blocking mat and pin the doily working from the center out to the edges. Allow the doily to dry completely before removing the pins.

Starting Round 20

1- With the wrong side of the doily facing up, join the thread around the post of center dc of any 15 dc group on Round 18.  Ch 1 and FPsc around the same st.

2- FPsc around each of next 7 dc on Round 18.  Skip the next FPdc decrease.  FPsc around each of the next 5 dc.

3- Ch 7.

4- Turn your work over so the right side is now facing up.

Round 20 continued

1- Skip the next 9 sc, sc in the next sc, slip st in the next sc.

2- ch 1 and turn your work back over so that the wrong side is facing up.

3- 11 dc in the ch-7 space just made.

4- FPsc around each of next 2 dc on Round 18.

For the remainder of the round repeat from  to ★ 15 times-

[FPsc, ch 3, FPsc] around next dc, FPsc around each of next 7 dc, skip next FPdc decrease, sc in each of next 5 dc, ch 7, turn, skip next 9 sc, sc in next sc, slip st in next sc, ch 1, turn, 11 sc in next ch-7 space, FPsc around each of next 2 dc on Round 18, repeat from  around, FPsc around next dc, above the first FPsc made, ch 1, hdc in first FPsc to make last ch-3 space.

Rounds 25 to 31, left side of the pineapple only

This is optional if you prefer the look of the pineapple in the photo on the right, though it is a little bit more work.  The steps on how to do this are shown below.  You can also do this with the smaller pineapples if you like :)

FPdc twice around next FPdc, making the second FPdc behind the first.  It helps to make the FPdc stitches on the left side of the pineapple look the same as the FPdc stitches on the right side.

1- After completing the last sc of the pineapple, FPdc around the next FPdc.

2- yo, and pull the FPdc just made to the front so you can work behind it.  Insert hook from front to back around the post of the same st as the last FPdc made.

3- Yo and pull up a loop.  (3 loops on hook).

4 and 5- [yo, and draw through 2 loops on hook] twice to compete the second FPdc.

Sc in same dc and FPdc around same dc on Round 33

1- Ch 3 to start the round.

2- FPdc around the next dc.

3- Pull the FPdc just made to the side and working in the same dc make a sc.

4- continue the round with- [ch 1, sc in next dc] 4 times.

5- FPdc around the post of the same dc as the last sc made.

6- dc in the next dc.

  4. Thank you for this beautiful, beautiful pattern I think I have stumbled upon a small error... I did not follow the pattern from the top as I needed the pictures and got confused as beneath the first 4 guide pictures for round 20 (also, thanks for adding them it helps a lot) it says to make 11 dc into the ch-7 but below the next 4 pictures it says to make 11 sc into the ch-7. In the top pattern it says sc so that's what I did. I love your work!
    Best regards from Rosie

  7. Another small error in the written pattern at the top. I Round 20 ot says
"FPsc around each of next 7 dc, skip next FPdc decrease, sc in each of next 5 dc".
I guess the last line here should read FPsc instead of sc. However it is corrected in the pic+pattern in the bottom section

  10. Oh my gosh! I don't think I have ever seen a doily this beautiful. I'm not sure I'm up to the task of making something so ostentatious. But I'm going to give it a go.
    Thank you so very much.

  14. Very beautiful work. I can't imagine how long it takes you to first work up a pattern and then write it out in "crochet lingo." Thank-you for sharing.

  15. Very beautiful! What is the total finished size? 14inch/35cm?

  16. I think there is a typo in the second set of 4 instructions in the photo tutorial section. It reads as "3- 11 dc in the ch-7 space just made." Every other spot, including the pictures, shows as sc's. I didn't notice this until I finished the round and was looking at how to join to finish the row and saw all the sc's instead of the dc's I had made.

Other than this, this pattern is beautiful, and I am loving the hell out of making this.

    1. Did you change it to sc or did it still work with DC? As i have done same thing.

    2. I have made this about six times, and I forget about this each time. Working dc stitches turns out just fine, so don't worry about it. It would be so time consuming to redo this round..

  22. In round 39 it should read 64 fpdc decreases, not 32 and in round 41 it should read 224 picots, not 112. Great pattern otherwise.

  23. Hi. I am just working on it and after completing row 20 i noticed you have a mistake in pattern where you explain how to complete row 20. It says 11dc where i think you meant to say SC. :( I have done it with DC and i hope it will still work.

  24. Having fun so far with the pattern!! Working with hot rose yarn, instead of thread, and after completing round 40, it is already close to the size of a baby blanket! Headed for the final rounds!! ♥️🧶

  25. Absolutely exquisite. Remarkably easy to follow. My thread is a 4/8 cotton skein and will only be enough for 3 parts. I can't wait till I get #10 thread and do another with all 6 parts.
