Starlight Refraction

Today I'm sharing an update to the Starlight doily pattern which has 11 new rounds!  This doily has 21 rounds and the finished size is about 12 1/2" in diameter.  I've included optional instructions for adding glass beads, shown on the pink doily.  These replace the picots of that round.  For the doilies pictured I used Aunt Lydias size 10 cotton crochet thread in the colors orchid pink and ecru.  The beads I used are called rizo beads, available at www.artbeads.com.

This doily has 21 Rounds.  The finished size is about 12 1/2" in diameter.
Pattern is written using U.S. Terminology.

Blocking and Finishing

It is optional but recommended to block your finished piece. Fill a bowl with water and add some liquid starch if you prefer the doily to be lightly stiffened. Soak the doily and gently press out any excess liquid, being careful not to pull or twist on the stitches. Lay it flat on a blocking mat and pin the doily working from the center out to the edges. Allow the doily to dry completely before removing the pins.

Making a slip st around the bead on Round 20

1- sc in the next ch-6 space.
2- bring one of the beads next to the sc just made.

4- ch 3, dc in third ch from the hook.
5- skip over the 2 ch-3 spaces on Round 20 and make a dc in the next dc, ch 2 and slip st in the same dc.

Making a triple picot on Round 21

1- ch 5, slip st in the fifth ch from the hook.

  3. Hello! I love this pattern a lot, but I just wanted to check on round 6. :) It says you should have 12 chain spaces, but the pattern says to chain 5 and sc in every space of the last round (round 5), and that gives me 18? I hooope I'm reading it right, haha!

Thank you again for the pattern! :)
