Talandra's Rose Doily

Aunt Lydias size 10 cotton crochet thread, 100-125 yards in the colors-
Color A- Ecru, 30-40 yards
Color B- French Rose, 60-70 yards
Color C- Frosty Green, 10-15 yards
1.75 mm hook

ch- chain
sl st- slip stitch
dc- double crochet

Special Stitches

beg puff stitch- with 1 loop loosely on the hook, [yo, insert hook into same st and pull up a loop] 3 times, yo and pull through all 7 loops on hook, ch 1.

puff stitch- yo, insert hook into st indicated and pull up a loop, [yo, insert hook into same st and pull up a loop] twice (there should be 7 loops), yo and pull through 6 loops on hook, yo and pull through last 2 loops on hook.

small picot- ch 2, sl st in second ch from hook.

picot- ch 3, sl st in third ch from hook.

cluster- ch 3, dc in third ch from hook.

large picot- ch 5, sl st in fifth ch from hook.

With Color A ch 4, sl st in fourth ch from hook to make a ring.

Round 1- ch 3 (counts as first dc), 11 dc in ring, sl st to third ch of first dc.  (12 dc)

Round 2- beg puff stitch in same st, [ch 2, puff stitch in next dc] around, ch 1, sc in top of beg puff stitch to make last ch-2 space.  (12 puff stitches, 12 ch-2 spaces)

Round 3- ch 1, sc in same ch-2 space, ch 4, [sc in next ch-2 space, ch 4] around, sl st to first sc.  (12 sc, 12 ch-4 spaces)

Round 4- sl st in next ch-4 space, ch 3 (counts as first dc), 6 dc in same space, [sc, picot, sc] in next ch-4 space, ðŸŒ¹ 7 dc in next ch 4 space, [sc, picot, sc] in next ch-4 space, repeat from ðŸŒ¹ around, sl st to third ch of first dc.  (42 dc, 12 sc, 6 picots)

Motifs 4, 5, and 6 are joined the same way as Motif 3.

Blocking

It is optional but recommended to block your finished piece. Fill a bowl with water and add some liquid starch if you prefer the doily to be lightly stiffened. Soak the doily and gently press out any excess liquid, being careful not to pull or twist on the stitches. Lay it flat on a blocking mat and pin the doily working from the center out to the edges. Allow the doily to dry completely before removing the pins.

Flower Motif Round 7
1- ch 1, working behind previous round and in the spaces the arrows are pointing to-
2 and 3- insert hook from front to back in the space between next dc and next tr and make a sl st.
4- ch 4, [sk next tr, sl st in the space between next tr and next dc, ch 4, sk next 2 ch-2 spaces] around, sl st to first st, fasten off Color B.  (12 ch-4 spaces)

Joining the third Flower Motif
1- after chaining 2 locate the corresponding corner of the adjacent motif.
2 and 3- with wrong sides together and right sides facing out, insert hook into the large picot of the adjacent motif.
4- make a sl st, ch 2, and sl st in the fourth ch from hook, first ch made after last cluster (counts as large picot).
5- cluster
6 and 7- repeat steps 1-5 2 times more.
8- ðŸŒ¹ sk next dc, next 2 sc, and next dc, sc in next dc, ch 3, sk next dc, [sc, ch 3] twice in next dc, sk next dc, sc in next dc, cluster, large picot, cluster, repeat from ðŸŒ¹ around, sl st to first sc, fasten off.

  3. When looking through the photo tutorial for the flower motifs, I noticed you missed round 4. It jumps from round 3 to round 5... Is that on purpose or was it a slight oversight?
