It is optional but recommended to block your finished piece. Fill a bowl with water and add some liquid starch if you prefer the doily to be lightly stiffened. Soak the doily and gently press out any excess liquid, being careful not to pull or twist on the stitches. Lay it flat on a blocking mat and pin the doily working from the center out to the edges. Allow the doily to dry completely before removing the pins.

  1. I literally LOVED making this doily. However, I did find a mistake on row 8. Here' how I had to make it. There was 3 stitches missing. Here's how I ended up doing it: Round 8- ch 3, dc in the back loop only of next 3 dc, sc in next space, dc in the back loop only of next 3 dc, * [dc, ch 3, dc] in the back loop only of next dc, DC IN BACK LOOP OF NEXT 3 DC, sc in next space, dc in the back loop only of next 3 dc, repeat from * around, dc in same st as first dc, ch 1, hdc in first dc to make last ch-3 space. (96 dc, 12 ch-3 spaces, 12 sc)

Turned out perfect. Thank you for the pattern.

  3. I think I find another error. In the midst of line 16, were given this sequence:

[sc, large picot, sc, picot] in next ch

I think this is missing a picot. Should it read like this instead?

[PICOT, sc, large picot, sc, picot] in next ch

  4. Hi Julia, i think your patterns are very pretty. I have only just discovered them. I started with the Moonpetals doily. I only got as far as Round 12 and found I couldnt read the pattern. Im not so good at reading the pattern instructions. I wondered if you have charts to go with the patterns too? Im sure I could finish the doily if I had both. Thankyou for your beautiful doily patterns all the same.

  10. There are 60dcs in row 15 but in row 16 we never stitch into any dcs. A bit disconcerting at first but then I realised the mistake was in the instructions. Thanks for the Tutorials.

  11. It would also be good if you mention that the chains in 15 not be too tight because I had to redo the whole row as I couldnt fit all those stitches in the central chain when it came to row 16.

  12. I just found your pattern. I am new to reading and applying a pattern to crocheting even though I have been crocheting for years. I am looking forward to attempting to make these beautiful doilies. I hope I can do it and don't let it intimidate me. I love doilies and it seems crocheting doilies is becoming a lost art so if I want to be able to use them I need to be able to make them! thank you for sharing your patterns.

    1. I did mine just a little different, if only because I liked the aesthetics a bit better. In the 3-chain space, I put sc, picot, sc in the first ch, sc, large picot, sc in the 2nd chain, and sc, picot, sc in the 3rd chain. It was a bit difficult to do, and I agree, a heads up on "loosely" chaining that ch-3 space would have been nice. But I wasn't about to frog an entire round, especially since I'd already fastened off and figured I'd have to add more thread. I liked the way I did it in the 3-ch space if only because it looked cleaner than just going around the chains themselves. I liked the way the spacing came out between picots a little bit better, too. But those tiny chains sure are a bugger to work into!

  14. Round 14 should end with (36 sc, 36 ch-7 spaces).

I love this pattern. I'm currently working on using this as a motif to make a tablecloth!
