Blocking and Finishing

It is optional but recommended to block your finished piece. Fill a bowl with water and add some liquid starch if you prefer the snowflake to be lightly stiffened. Soak and gently press out any excess liquid, being careful not to pull or twist on the stitches. Lay it flat on a blocking mat and pin the snowflake working from the center out to the edges. Allow it to dry completely before removing the pins.

    2. I am lost on round 3. I don't understand the pattern and trying to read the instructions for the FPtr cluster - I have no idea... (I'm new to all of this and the patterns confuse the daylights out of me.)

  10. In round 6 the pattern says "FPsc around next FPdc decrease" and then you do a bunch of stitches to make the point. Then the pattern says "FPdc around the same FPdc decrease on Round 5." Shouldn't there be the same stitch on both sides of the point. That is FPsc on both sides, or FPdc on both sides??

    2. In round 6 at "large picot, ch 2, slip st in second ch from hook, slip st in marked ch and in last dc made.." What is meant by the last dc made? I can see on the diagram that it is just below the slip st in the marked ch but I am not sure where that dc is? Thank you for sharing! Your patterns are BEAUTIFUL!

    3. LOL! Just like the previous poster please ignore my question. Once I started a second snowflake I figured out where I was making mistakes. I was apparently doing several things wrong on my first snowflake but even so I did it consistently and it actually turned out pretty, not as pretty as yours, but still, a unique snowflake. My second one is looking much more like yours:)

  13. I cannot follow row 6. I've done it several times and it just doesn't make sense even with the chart. I give up. Need a video to follow this.

  14. This is just beautiful and I hope I have advanced enough to be able to do this one! Never done FP stiches before, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.

  15. Round 6 killed me, it doesn't look like your snowflake

  16. I am reading through round 6 and feel like I'm missing something. Where it says, "cluster in last FPdc made," - am I supposed to make an FPtr cluster or is "cluster" by itself something different?

  17. Ok I did it! I can't believe I did it! I practiced on regular yarn scraps. Round 6 was scary but once I figured it out..... THE RELIEF!

  18. I can't get Round 6. I'm so frustrated! I've been working it on Yarn #4 to better see it. I spent 5 hours yesterday (2.5 on Round 6). I've been crocheting for decades, but I can't seem to get it. What am I doing wrong. What I wouldn't do for a video right about now. I'm very close to giving up! Grrrrr!

  19. For anyone struggling with round 6: it is correctly in the instructions and in the diagram! It's a bit tricky at first, but once you get it, it's easy. :)
